Louis "Lepke" Buchalter (February 6, 1897 – March 4, 1944) was an American mobster and head of the Mafia hit squad Murder, Inc. during the 1930s. Buchalter was one of the premier labor racketeers in New York City during that era.

Buchalter became the only major mob boss to receive the death penalty in the United States after being convicted of murder.

Louis Lepke was the brains and Jacob " Gurrah " Shapiro was the muscle.
Jacob Shapiro was one of the most feared Labor Racketeers in New York City, New York, and was crime leader Lepke Buchalter's partner during the 1920s and 1930s. The nickname "Gurrah" dates back to his childhood when he tried to rob pushcarts in his Jewish neighborhood and the pushcart owners would shout "Gurra da here" (get out of here) at him. Shapiro died of natural causes in Sing-Sing prison.

ביוגרפיה נולד ב -1897 בוויליאמסבורג שבברוקלין להורים ילידי רוסיה, כשהיה בן 13 מת אביו מהתקף לב, ולאחר מכן עברה אמו לקולורדו, והשאירה אותו בהשגחת אחת מאחיותיו הגדולות. ב - 1915 נתפס בגניבת תיק ונשלח למוסד לעבריינים צעירים. כשחזר לניו יורק התחבר ליעקב "גורה" שפירו, ועסק עמו בשוד וגביית דמי חסות. ב-1918 נתפס בשוד ונשלח לכלא סינג סינג, לאחר שהשתחרר החל לעבוד עם ארנולד רוטשטיין כמלווה חמוש של מבריחי המשקאות.

ב-1931 לאחר השתלטות לאקי לוצ'יאנו ומאיר לנסקי על המאפיה, ויסוד מועצת המנהלים של המאפיה, הם נזקקו לגורם חיצוני שיבצע את ההוצאות להורג. לפקה ביחד עם חברו אלברט אנסטסיה גיבשו קבוצה של פושעים צעירים שביצעו חוזי רצח בשביל המאפיה, על חברי הקבוצה נמנו אייב רלס, באגסי גולדשטיין, והארי שטראוס. בפי עיתונאי אותה תקופה כונתה כנופיה זו "רצח בע"מ". ב-1940 נעצר אייב רלס ולאחר זמן מה נשבר והסכים לעסקת טיעון, הוא הפליל את כל חבריו ובהם גם לפקה. לפקה הוצא להורג בכלא סינג סינג ב-1944.
