He was named after his Uncle Ludwig “Louis” Lamke.
Married: Dec 12, 1902 at Clayton, St. Louis, Mo to Olivia Devoto
Louis Selz, 58, barber and curio collector, whose shop, at 1507 Hamilton Ave, was a stamping ground for curio collectors from far and near, was found dead in his shop early morning, overcome by gas from a small heater in the rear. The body was found at 7 a.m. Police advanced the theory gas had accumulated overnight from an open jet and Selz was overcome when he opened up in the morning. Firemen attempted for three hours to revive Selz with an inhalator. Selz's hobby in curios was collecting horns. The walls of his shop were decorated with horns of every size and shape and kind. The shoe shining stand was a massive chair made entirely of horns, which was displayed during the World's Fair and which Selz salvaged from an antique shop. He resided at 5905 Easton Ave., a short distance from the shop.
