Louisa "Lou" Jane Abernathy

Louisa J. Tibbs was born May 24, 1856, and died August 17, 1916, aged sixty years, 2 months and 23 days. She was married to Geo. Abernathy, February 11, 1877. To this union two children were born: Mrs Clara Wooldridge of Warsaw, Ill., and Eugene of Los Angeles, Cal., who with the husband mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother.

Besides these she leaves four brothers and one sister, T.W. Tibbs of Highmore, South Dakota, R.C., of Huskpecana, Miss.; B.B., and W.W., of Chitina, Alaska, and Mrs. Ella Abernathy of Arapahoe, Colo., six gran children and other relatives and many friends.

The funeral was held from the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Allerton, of Canton. The Rebekah lodge, of which she was the Noble Grand, had charge of the services at the grave.

Mrs Abernathy will be missed in the community for she was ever ready and willing to administer to the sick or any one in distress. Her life indeed, had been a life of service.
