Lovina Peele died of pneumonia
Family Tree information of Lovina Jones Green
The following is a copy of the Newspaper obituary for Lovina Peelle Chadwick that was included in Carolyn Seaman’s record, “Ancestors of Jessie Grace Chadwick.
Stark County Democrat, Knox, Indiana. Thursday, Jan 7, 1897
The sad intelligence was received here Friday night of the death of Mrs. Perry Chadwick at their home at Burnside, a suburb of Chicago. She was taken ill with pneumonia Christmas Eve and died eight days later. Her son, Henry, was visiting relatives here last week and went home Tuesday on receipt of a letter informing him of his mother’s illness. The next day a telegram was received saying that Mrs. Chadwick’s condition was critical and her mother and sister, Grandma Peelle and Mrs. F. M. Batchelder, started for Burnside that evening, but arrived too late to see her alive. The remains were brought here Monday and laid away in Crown Hill Cemetery after furneral services at the Christian Church conducted by Rev. B. H. Beall of the M. E. Church. Mrs. Chadwick was known and loved by all the older residents of Knox and vicinity and to them her death seem like the loss of a personal friend. Her maiden name was Lovina Peelle, daughter of James and Mariah Peelle, and sister to Mrs. F. M. Batchelder and Isaac, Henry, and Will Peelle. She was 46 years, 3 mos., 15 days old at the time of her death and leaves and husband and five children, ranging in age from five to eighteen years, in addition to her mother, sisters, and brothers. She was married to William Perry Chadwick on Christmas day, 1877. The oldest daughter is sixteen years old and the family will return to their home after a few days and remain together. The Democrat joins their many friends in sincere sympathy to the bereaved family and friends

Perry and his family lived in many locations. We have a return envelope address to Waters & Chadwick, Builders and Contractors of Manchester, VA8 (I cannot find Manchester, VA on my map.) We also have business cards for W. P. Chadwick from a Clark Station, IN location9 (I can’t find Clark Station, IN on my map either.), and a Wanatah, IN location10. There is also some stationary to W. P. Chadwick, Dr. Builder and Contractor for a Chicago address.11 We know Cleo was born in Richmond, VA, and Alta was born in Clear Lake, SD. Lovina Green talked about how much the older girls of William Perry Chadwick and Lovina Peelle disliked South Dakota. They were very happy when the family left South Dakota.
