Dirck MIDDAGH was born 15 Oct 1740 in Readington, NJ. The North Branch DRC records illustrate the change that took place in the calendar about this time. The date of his birth is given as 10/15/1740 under the "old system" and 10/26/1740 under the "new system". Dirck was christened 12 Apr 1741 according to the records of the Readington (NJ) DRC. No child's name is given in the church records; but other records indicate the name of the child was Dirck.
A Patriot of the American Revolution for NEW JERSEY with the rank of MAJOR. DAR Ancestor #: A208205
During the Revolutionary War, he served in the First Somerset Regiment of New Jersey. Served at Bound Brook, Battle of Springfield, Battle of Monmounth. Was a close friend of Col. Frederick Frelinghuysen.
