Sequentially, Nathaniel Kellogg was the eleventh of twenty children born to Lt. Joseph Kellogg (1626 - 1708), "The Ferryman of Hadley". More specifically, Nathaniel Kellogg was the second of eleven children born to Lt. Kellogg and his second wife, Abigail Martha Terry (1646 - ????). Nathaniel Kellogg was named in memory of a short lived older sibling who was born in October 1654 to Lt. Kellogg and his first wife, Joanna Foote (1628 - 1666). Nathaniel Kellogg was born on October 8, 1669 in Hadley (Hampshire County), Massachusetts. [2]
Nathaniel Kellogg married Sarah Boltwood (1672 - 1726), daughter of Sergeant Samuel Boltwood and Sarah (Lewis) Boltwood of Deerfield, on June 28, 1692 in Hadley, Massachusetts. Less tan a year after they wed, Nathaniel Kellogg "was in Deerfield 6 June 1693 when the town was attacked by the Indians; he escaped and alarmed the town". [2]

Nathaniel Kellogg "was one of the largest taxpayers in Hadley; Lieutenant in the militia; selectman of Hadley in 1717, 1721, 1727, and 1737. He (illegible) to the Third Precinct of Hadley (now Amherst), and was one of the original members of the church there, 7 November, 1733." [2] He passed away, aged 81, on October 30, 1750 in Amherst (Hampshire County), Massachusetts. Nathaniel Kellogg is interred at West Cemetery in Amherst, Massachusetts. [1]
