Lucy Wheelock

Not the daughter of Jonas Hubbard & Milla Hubbard. Their daughter was Lucy Smith

Little is known about Lucy Hubbard. Her birth date, parents, and exact date of death have not yet been discovered. Marcus Warren Waite in The Wheelock Family of Calais calls her "of Montpelier," citing information furnished by Mrs. P. E. Reed, Stockton, Illinois.

She is sometimes claimed to be the Lucy Hubbard who was born 30 Aug 1786 in Holden, Worcester County, Massachusetts, daughter of Jonas Hubbard and Mille Childs;1 but that Lucy Hubbard married Levi Smith in Holden,2 and died in El Paso, Woodford County, Illinois on 23 Mar 1877, her gravestone inscribed with "Lucy Smith, Born Holden, Mass. Aug 30 1786, died Mar. 23, 1877."3 She could not have been the Lucy Hubbard that married Asa Wheelock.

There were several other Hubbard families living near her in Jefferson County, New York, including a Cyrus Hubbard living in Henderson, where Lucy's son, Cyrus Hubbard Wheelock, was said to have been born. There were also a few Hubbard families living in Berlin (next to Montpelier), Vermont, and one (Jonas Hubbard) in Plainfield, Vermont. As of this writing, no connection between these families and Lucy Hubbard has been discovered.
