About Ludwig "Louis" Bodenheimer

I have much more about Ludwig (Louis) Bodenheimer, that was my father's uncle by marriage.

All the children of Benno were born in Heidelberg Germany, I think that the family came to Heidelberg from Handschusheim Germany.

Louis married Else Hahn (Daugther of Neumann hahn and Rosa Lowenthal) in 1910 in Berlin.

Louis (b.25.11.1879 d.21.09.1957in N.Y) -- [dates wrong? Could be b1890?] worked in a firm that manifactured clothing , throw his buisness contacts he met Elsa Hahn(b.1.12.1889 in Stargard d.13.3.1969 in N.Y).

Her father had a firm that manufactured clothing for boys , he took charge on the business and had a big success - he knew how to be a business man, he was a"bon vivant" person like all the rich Berlin Jews.

After Hitler came to power he lost his control of the business and the workers committee forced him to play their cards, but still he was convinced that the German people will get back to senses. He want in 1937 to NY on business - May be he met Sigmund there?

When he came back to Berlin he was promptly put in the camp at Oranienburg, was lucky to get out and only after that they decided to leave. He wanted to settle in Switzerland but didn't get a visa, They had to take a lot of money from Sigmund in order to get permission to leave. Because they didn't have passports any more, the only option was to travel with the Trans Siberian train to far east. They spent a year in Japan and Hong Kong until they arrived to U.S.A in 10.12.1940.

They had 2 sons-

1/ Hans (b.5.5.1912 in Berlin d.7.3.1966 in Buenos Aires) left Berlin with his wife Edith Natan (b.1913 d.2004) right after Kristallnacht 1938, to Argentina to join his parents in law . they had 2 children, both still in Buenos aires :

Ernesto -b.12.12.1948 married to Marina Guriero have 2 children

Juhan b.22.9.1979 and Karen b. 17.11.1971

2/Herbert (b.9/12/1920 Berlin d. 19.3.1993 in Skokie-Chicago) left Berlin in 1938 to learn in Bruseles, found him self in franch camps during the war and spent time in san domingo with the Franch foreign rigion , untill he came to Maiami in 1946.

He got married with Miriam Laufer un 1953 had 2 sons:
