About Luisa López Robledo
Luisa Lopez Robledo and her husband Bartolomé Romero came to New Mexico in 1598 with the Don Juan de Oñate party which started the first Spanish settlement in New Mexico. They were already married when they came to New México, and they brought their young children along with them.
She is the daughter of the first recorded and celebrated casualty of the trek to Northern New Mexico, Don Pedro Robledo who at the age of 60 or 61 died en route. There is a memorial plaque in place close to the infamous Camino Real del adentro.
Bartolomé shows up in Oñate annals. He was quickly promoted to captain after their arrival in New México.
Their children were Bartolomé, Matías, Agustín, Ana who married Francisco Gómez, and María who married Gaspar Pérez.
