APPLE CREEK -- Lydia Y. Hershberger, 85, of 8563 Mount Hope Road, Apple Creek, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at her home.
She was born in Wayne County on Sept. 30, 1923, to the late Yost and Lovina S. (Yoder) Hershberger and married Dan J. Hershberger on Jan. 18, 1948. He survives. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Katie (Ezra D.) Petersheim of Apple Creek, Mary (Eli T.) Hostetler of Danville, Edna (Aaron E.) Hostetler of Turbotville, Pa., and Elizabeth (Melvin M.) Hostetler of the home; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; sisters Susie and Anna Hershberger of Harmony, Minn., Mary (Elam) Swartzentruber of Millersburg and Katie Hershberger of Apple Creek; and a half-sister, Emma (Jacob) Stutzman of Cashton, Wis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, and a stillborn daughter and son, one grandson, one great-grandson and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the family home with Bishop Jacob J. Shetler officiating. Burial will be in the Hershberger Cemetery in Paint Township, Wayne County. Friends may call anytime at the family home.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
