Biography

Lydia (Ford) Lake was the 4th great grandmother of Grace Anna Goodhue, First Lady and wife of US President (John) Calvin Coolidge (Jr.).[1][2]

Liddiah Ford, daughter of Martin [a Frenchman] and Liddai, was born at Bradford, Massachusetts on 12 April 1686.[3] On 23 September 1697, Lydia Ford, the daughter of Mathew and Lydia Ford, along with her siblings John, Mathew, and Elizabeth, were given land at Bradford by their "cousin" Israel Ela.[4] A genealogical analysis indicates the most likely solution to be that Lydia Ford's great grandmother Susanna, wife of Theophilus Shatswell, was a Bosworth; Israel Ela, husband of Abigail Bosworth, was not blood-related to Lydia but Abigail was.

Lydia Forde [Foard] married Eliezer Lake at Topsfield on 7 December 1708. [5] On 28 February 1717/8, Eliezer purchased from the Stanley family his homestead.[6] The house Lydia raised her family in still exists today.[7][8]

Lydia, wife of Eleazer, died at Topsfield on 29 May 1743.[9]
