About Lydia Williams

Lydia Bate, daughter of James Bate and Alice Glover, was baptized at Lydd 22 Oct 1615. She came to America with her parents on the Elizabeth in 1635. She was not seen in the records after the birth of her son in 1650.

"Lydia Bate" was admitted to Dorchester church about 1638.

CHARLES WILLIAMS, Jr., a wellI known and highly esteemed citizen of Somerville, was born March 2, 1830, in Chelmsford, Mass., being the son of Charles, Sr., and Rebecca (Frost) Williams. His descent from Roger 1 Williams, of Dorchester, who came over in the "Mary and John" in 1630, and married Lydia Bates about 1649, is through Ebenezer,2 who married in 1674 Martha Hall; Ebenezer,5 who married Mary Humphrey in 1702; Zebadiah,4 who married in 1741 Sarah Andrews; Colonel Ebenezer,5 born in 1744, died in 1821; Zebadiah,6 born June 30, 1772, died March 15, 1856; and Charles, Sr.,7 his father, born in Milton, July 6, 1803. His great-grandfather, Colonel Ebenezer Williams, married in 1766 Jerusha Pope, who was born in 1742 and died in 1814. They had four children. Zebadiah, who was the third-born, was engaged in agricultural pursuits in Milton during his entire life. On September 13, 1798, he married Nancy Vose, whose death occurred in 1844. They had nine children, Charles being the fourth child and the third son.
