NOTE about birth and baptism

  • Madeleine was baptised on July 25, 1646 (attached). On the record entry, the priest indicated that Madeleine was the daughter of Stephane Racine and Marguerite Langlois. "Marguerite Langlois" is either either Marguerite Martin but with her mother's maidden name, or Madeleine's grand-mother. The priest was possibly Rév. Père Jérôme Lalemant who was the missionary serving Notre-Dame at the time.
  • The place of birth (as it was shown on September 1, 2014) was "Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré". This could not be correct. In 1646, Beaupré was only fields. In fact, the first plot granted in Beaupré was to her father, Eugène, in 1650--4 years later. And the parrish of "Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré" will be established only in 1657. Therefore, unless we post here more evidence to support Beaupré, her place of birth can only be inferred from her place of baptism.
  • The date of birth (as it was shown on September 1, 2014) was "July 23". Unless we post here more evidence to support the 23rd, her date of birth can only be inferred from her date of baptism.
