Magdalena Straubhaar was baptized on Nov. 15, 1868 along with her husband John Kunz III by Karl G. Maeser in the cold waters of the Stream called Grundbach, at Zwischenfluh, Diemtigen, Canton Bern, Switzerland. He emigrated to the United States on the SS Nevada from Liverpool, England in July of 1873 with his family and arrived in Utah on July 2, 1873.
Magdalena suffered from illness throughout her life. She endured the early death of her son Jacob and a daughter Matilda at one month. On May 22, 1874 Magdalena Straubhaar Kunz died of dropsy. She was buried in Ovid Cemetery, Ovid, Bear Lake County, Idaho.
