Magdalena “Lien” Malan (1932 - 1999)

Brief overview:

Lien (67), and her husband, Roelof Jacobus Johannes Malan (73), were attacked and shot on their smallholding in Grootvlei Mpumalanga on 3rd April 1999. Magdalena was hospitalised and passed away on either the 16th or 17th April. Roelf died in a Pretoria hospital on 4th April. Their daughter, Ms van Heerden, and her son Jacques (16), were both tied up, and when one of the attackers attempted to shoot, fortunately the firearm misfired.
