The memorial shown is recognized by the Commonwealth War Grave Commission I am indebted to Geoffrey Gillon for supplying the following information about the Hanbury-Tracy's:-"Algernon's brother, Lieutenant, The Honourable Felix Charles Hubert Hanbury-Tracy fell in France December 19th 1914 and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial as he has no known grave. Felix's son fell in WWII. Algernon's son, Major Richard Algernon Frederick, Royal Horse Guards fell in WWII whilst serving with no. 8 Commando. He has no known grave and is therefore commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial" Geoffrey informs me that Algernon Hanbury-Tracy's death from wounds occurred in this country, not in France, as I had supposed. It is interesting to note that high birth does not protect a person from death in warfare. Family Members
