His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve of the appointment to be a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order, in recognition of gallantry and devotion to duty in the field. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations. He was wounded when wire-cutting under heavy shell fire, but stuck to his duty till two days later, when he was again seriously wounded. He has always shown great coolness and bravery.
