Maren, 1792 ; m. again, Nov. 11, 1793, Mary Wragg, of Georgetown, who d. Feb. 7, 180l; m. again, May 15, 1803, Mrs. Hannah (Coachman) Postell, widow of Col. Jehu Postell; d. on his plantation, "Woodland", on the High Hills of the Santee, Sumter District, S. C, Dec. 7, 1812.^
  • He was commissioned lieutenant in the 2nd South Carolina Continental Regiment (Motte's) Feb. 24, 1778, served through the Georgia campaign and the siege of Savannah, and resigned in Jany. 1780. Be then entered the militia where he served to the end of the war in Marion's brigade, attaining the rank of captain. One fight in which his company and that of his brother Sinclair attacked a party of British and Tories on the Georgetown road near Whitehall is described in Johnson's Traditions of the Revolution, p. 583. read more....
