The family was cut out of Effingham into Bulloch in the latter's formation in 1796, and Malachi Denmark spent his entire life in the county of Bulloch of his birth. He was married in 1811 to Jane ("Jincy") Wise, born 1796 in Bulloch county, daughter of William Wise, R.S. (Vol 2). They had twelve children, viz:

Mr Denmark became a prominent citizen of his county in his day, and owned a
fine plantation and at his death owned twelve slaves. He served as a Justice of Bulloch Inferior Court 1822-1829 and 1837 to his death. He was a delegate from his county to the State Reduction Convention in 1833 and again in 1839. He served as Representative to the General Assembly, 1823-1827 and as State
Senator 1828. He served again a Repre. in 1839 and 1841-1843.
Mr E.O. Parker, of Washington, a descendant, is due credit for the data
afforded by this sketch, and for the following account of Malachi Denmark's
legislative record, which he very carefully complied from a study of the
legislative journals:
"Malachi Denmark and Peter Cone were elected delegates from Bulloch to the
Reduction Convention in 1833. He voted for the "white basis" resolution
designed to take from the planter class its large representation based upon
slave popluation; and the resolution passed, but when submitted to a public
referendum, was defeated by the Whigs. Denmark and Cone were again delegates in the Convention of 1839 which defeated the "white basis" resolution.
"Mr Denmark was an ultra-conservative; he supported the principles in gov't
enunicated y President Andrew Jackson. An advocate of economy in gov't, he
opposed the creation of a board of public works, a system of internal
improvements and the establishment of a national bank. He worked for prison
reform, proposed blennial legislative sessions, believed any interference by
Congress with the institution of slavery to be unconstitutional, and opposed
the distribution of the proceeds from public lands among the states, feeling
that it would lead to assumption of the state debts and inevitably to the
necessity for a protective tariff."
