Her married name was Conn. Malinda Dye was born in November 1844 at Russell County, Virginia. She was the daughter of ? Dye and Euphrasia McFarland. Malinda Dye appeared on the census of 6 August 1850 at Russell County, Virginia, listed as Malinda Howell age 8 living in home of Larkin Howell. She appeared on the census of 1 June 1860 at Pike County, Kentucky, listed as Malinda Howell age 16 living in home of Larkin Howell. As of August 1860,her married name was Adkins. She married Gilbert Adkins, son of Elisha Adkins, in August 1860 at Larkin Howell's house. Malinda Dye and Gilbert Adkins were divorced in 1865. Malinda Dye married Alexander Conn, son of William Conn and Sally Jarrell, in 1878. Malinda Dye appeared on the census of 25 June 1900 at Floyd County, Kentucky, listed as Linda age 55 born November 1844 married 22 years with 9 children and 8 still living, living in home of husband. She appeared on the census of 6 May 1910 at Floyd County, Kentucky, listed as Malinda age 69 married 28 years with 10 children and 6 still living, living in home of husband. She appeared on the census of 20 January 1920 at Floyd County, Kentucky, listed as Malindia age 82 living in home of husband. She was buried at Buck Boyd Branch, Prater Creek, Kentucky. She died in 1930.

Malinda married and divorced Gilbert Adkins before having Ned by Jonathan Lee Gearheart b 27 FEB 1838 Floyd Co KY; d 17 MAY 1909 Cass Co., Missouri, s/o Robert and Sarah Justice. Some researchers have Robert Valentine some Valentine Robert. I didn't have Ned descendants but see that you have listed some on your post. Thanks. Would love to have a gedcom file of your line. Malinda then had a son John Allen Howell b1871, raised by Malinda's half bro Jim Howell and his wife. John's dad is Samuel R Meade who was married to Jonathan Gearheart's sister Mary at the time. Would like to know that story! Then Malinda married 1880 Alexander Conn and had 5 more kids including my neice's ancestor Mimms Conn born 1889. Family stories say that Malinda is of Indian Blood. Info differs as to what name her mother had, Malinda's mother EuphrasiaDye's mother was "a Cherokee Woman born 1799" married a white settler John Dye and took in some of her siblings. Malinda's dad unknown currently for sure. Euphrasia married Larkin Howell, listed as Priscilla in 1850 census, but Patsy and Frances on birth records of her kids. Some believe Priscilla and Euphrasia sisters, some say same person. Some say Priscilla and/or Euphrasia are dau/s of John and Nancy Little Dye (Priscilla and Larkin lived nextdoor on census) and all kids have Dye family names. Malinda and her older brother Lilburn Dye probably not Larkin Howell's kids since they used Dye surname. Euphrasia lived with John and Nancy with Lilburn and Malinda before marriage to Larkin Howell. Other researcher say Euphrasia is a McFarland and married a Dye posb s/o John and Nancy. And Priscilla is d/o John and Nancy. Have been searching the web and nothing conclusive as yet on parentage of Malinda and Lilburn.
