About Deacon Manasseh Tucker
He was a founder of the Milton church. At the time of publishing of A History of Milton, his house was still standing at 23 Robbins Street [A History of Milton, p. 261].
Shortly before 1709, at a falls in the river, at what is today called Mattapan but was then called Upper Falls, Ezra Clapp, Manassah Tucker and three others built a grist mill at this falls. Two years later, they permitted David Colson, a fellmonger (or dealer in hides), to build a mill just below the falls for processing skins. It is probable that both the grist mill and the fulling mill were on the Dorchester side of the river [A History of Milton, p. 71).
