About Margaret Allen Webb Smith

Margaret Allen, daughter of James Dickerson Allen and Sarah Ann Hardy, was born 31 March 1827 in Salem, Salem, New Jersey, the second of twelve children. At the age of 13, Margaret Allen was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 15 April 1840.

She married Charles Young Webb (1819 - 1890) and emigrated to Utah in a wagon train with the Warren Foote Company of 1850. In 1851 she and Charles Young Webb were living in Iron County, Utah Territory; their real estate was valued at $700.50. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on 14 May 1852, and had six children. They were divorced in 1855 and Margaret Allen was sealed to John Glover Smith (1808 - 1888) on 9 November 1856 in the President's Office, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah Territory. They had three children.

Margaret lived in Pine Valley, Washington, Utah Territory when the census was taken on 4 June 1870. Ten years later, she was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Horatio Harris Merrill and Sarah Ann Smith, in Smithfield, Cache, Utah at the time of the census taken on 9 June 1880. She married Dennison Lot Harris on 1 November 1883 at St. George, Washington, Utah Territory. He died eighteen months later, but Margaret did not marry again. She died 15 April 1919 in Declo, Cassia, Idaho at the age of 92 years, and was buried in Declo Cemetery, Declo, Cassia County, Idaho, United States.
