Married Lt. Rees Bowen in 1756. ___________
Levisa Bowen was a woman of great courage and bravery. She accepted the responsibility of raising her orphan children, none of whom were of age when their father died. One of the many stories handed down to her great-great-grandchildren was that she failed to conform to the latest fashion of wearing a bonnet. Instead she chose to wear a hat, and no doubt, by so doing, she showed the other women she had a mind of her own.
