About Margaret Boyd
MARGARET BOYD
According to the Marquis of Ruvigny, Margaret Boyd, here treated, is the daughter of William, Earl of Kilmarnock, and his wife Lady Janet Cunningham. A birth or baptismal record has not been identified for her. The Scots Peerage V: 175
Spurious Pedigree
At least four pedigrees published by My Heritage say that she was born in 1678, at Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, Scotland, and died there in 1679, but this claim is not supported an entry in the old parochial registers of Kilmarnock. In this regard it should, perhaps, also be noticed that Earl William's main residence during the period 1664-75 was probably the tower of Badenheath near Kirkintilloch in Dunbartonshire. The baptism of his eldest son William was certainly registered in the near by parish of Kilsyth in Stirlingshire, and the baptisms of another seven of his children were registered at Kirkintilloch.
