LUMBERTON, TEXAS - Margaret Florence Shelley Dohmann departed to her heavenly home on July 31, 2008, in Lumberton, Texas. She was born on March 24, 1932, in Floyds, South Carolina to her parents, James Austin Shelley and Johnnie Harley Mishoe.

She obtained her registered nursing degree from Mullins School of Nursing in South Carolina, where she enjoyed a successful career that extended to Louisiana until her retirement in 2005.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin Frederick Dohmann, Sr.; both parents; her brothers, Pelton Shelley, Lacy Shelley, J.C. Shelly, Elson Shelley, Austin Shelley, and Jack Shelley; her sisters, Zetha Shelly Floyd Collins, Janice Shelley Johnson Morton, Marie Shelley Graham, and Molly Shelley.

Consistent with her generous and compassionate nature, Margaret chose to donate her body to the University of Texas Medical Center to promote better understanding of her rare form of cancer.

A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. A reception celebrating her life will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Opelousas.
