An account of the loses and persecutions of Margaret Foutz daughter of David and Mary Munn born Deceber 11, 1801, Franklin, PA.

Am athe wife & widow of Jacob Foutz who departed this life February 14, 1848. My husband purchased in Caldwell County 120 acres of land and the farm work completed and the materials on hand to finnish up a commodious dwelling when he received a wound from mob violence which laid him up for 6 months.

the fruits of our industry was all wasted and we were compeled to leave the state in common with the Saints Sacrefizeing our land and home which we had paid our money and buy our industry we had begin to have in Shape for enjoyment.

Leaving the state we gather with the Saints in Nauvoo Suffered in the driveing from there also in the hardship incident to Settleing in the land of the Great Salt Lake. In the year 1847 the Exposure & toil of my husband I think caused his death Leaving me with a family on my hands in a new land or from where any conforts could be obtained Mobocratic violence had bereaved us of what available means we had

I now found in deed a trial to battle with the few realities of life & rear my family. Captain Cumstock and Wm Mann are the names of two of the prominent leading mobbers who despoiled us of our goods.Margaret Foutz
