About Margaret Susan Harman
Suggested edit: Mrs. Margaret S. Harman, widow of Gen. William H. Harman, after a protracted illness of liver complaint with a complication of other ailments, died at her residence on Coalter Street at 285 o'clock Monday morning, June 3ed, aged 63 years and 5 months.
She was a daughter of the late Albert G. Garber of this city, and was highly esteemed.
She is survived by the following children::A. C. Harman, of Richmond, Va.; Albert G. Harman, of Goshen; Mrs. Ellen Surber, of Staunton; Miss Augusta Harman, of Staunton, and Edward Harman, of St. Louis, Mo.
Her husband was a prominent and popular citizen and a gallant soldier in two wars, and lost his life during Sheridan's raid at Waynesboro in this county a short time before the close of the war.
In his youth, he was a soldier in the war with Mexico. After that he practiced law in this city in partnership with Maj. H. M. Bell, and for some time was Commonwealth's Attorney for the county. He was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity and was Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the State at the time of his death.
The funeral of Mrs. Harman was from the Trinity Episcopal Church, of which she had been a member for many years, at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, services by the Rector, W. Q. Hullihen. Interment in Thornrose cemetery.
The following were the pallbearers: H. M. Bell A. S. Lara, Dr. N. Wayt, Frank Berkeley, Jas. H. Blackley, Wm. A. Burke, Wm. A. Burnett, Dr. B. M. Atkinson.
