Hi Stephanie Your great grandmother, Margaret Hoey, was the sister of my great grandfather, John Edward Hoey. so I think we are fourth cousins. I never knew my great grandfather, he died shortly after I was born (as did his wife). I know his family is originally from Ireland, they moved here when he was 6 months old, he may have been born in England prior to their coming to the states. But your great-grandmother is older, so she was perhaps born in Ireland? I did a lot of ancestry work one summer (2012? 2013?) and haven't had time to do much since. Something to spend more time on when I retire. Thanks for the spelling update on the name! I updated my tree with that change. I did post a pdf of my great grand-father's journals. (grandpa hoey's journal entries) which you might find interesting to read. My great grandfather ended up in New Hampshire but then my parents moved to Connecticut after college. I currently live in Connecticut. I still have a lot of relatives in New Hampshire though. What state do you live in? I have not done the DNA test, my mother has but I doubt she registered the results with ancestry. At some point, I'd like to do the test.
