Mrs. Margaret Lerch, one of the early settlers of this vicinity, died at the home of here son Lawrence Wolf, in Farming township, last Friday noon. She was 86 years of age and death was due to infirmities of old age.
Deceased, whose maiden name was Margaret Herzog, was born in Bavaria, Germany on January 6, 1840. She was married in Germany to George Wolf, and after living there for some years they came to this country, about 50 years ago, and settled on a farm north of Albany, the farm which is now known as the Marose farm. Two years later Mr. Wolf died, and several years later, the deceased was married to John Lerch and they lived on the farm south of Albany, which is now owned by her son Andrew Wolf. Over 30 years ago Mr. Lerch also preceded her in death and since that time she made her home with her sons. She was the mother of eight children of whom 4 survive. They are Andrew and George Wolf of Albany; Lawrence Wolf of Farming and Adam Wolf of St. Paul.
The funeral was held Monday morning under the auspices of the Christian Mothers Sodality of Albany of which she had been a faithful member for many years. Requiem Mass was held at the Seven Dolors church at 9;30 o'clock, Rev. Anselm, O.S.B. officiating and burial made in the cemetery here.
