M. & R. Matheys had a millinery shop on Spring Garden in Philadelphia. These would be Margaret and sister Rachel (spinsters)
Married Dr. Levi G. Viral (or Vinal) late in life. We see Margaret age 62 and Amy age 69 "sister" in the 1880 census, living at 958 N. 10th St. Philadelphia. with Howell Bean and Lewis Mathey in the household.
Her sister Eliza (Elizabeth) married Jesse Weber Bean who, once Eliza died, left their two boys David and Howell in her care, along with that of her other spinster sisters, particularly Hannah who lived the longest.
Jesse relates in a letter of 1895 that Margaret used to write to him in Virginia after her left, but only up until the outbreak of the Civil War.
"Margarett used to write to me for a few years after I left but after the war I never heard from any of them"
