Margaret Elizabeth Ofner

Margaret Elizabeth Shaefer was the Catholic bride of Jewish Charles Phillip Ofner.

Had four brothers; Frank, Ben, Ed and Willard; and one sister, Mae, who's married name was Mrs. Rudy Hartmann

Charles Phillip Ofner (b 1883) married Margaret Elizabeth Shaefer (b 1882) and raised his family Catholic. Moved his family to San Antonio, Texas. Visited St. Louis relatives every couple of years after Maggie died.

Daughters Mary Virginia & Margaret Elizabeth were aware of their Jewish roots, but kept them secret after moving to San Antonio Texas in childhood. Their descendants' surnames are Power, Barksdale, Ford, Lyle, Looper, & Baremore.

Son Charles Francis Ofner, may have been kept unaware of his father's Jewish roots. His sons were Charles (Texas) and Lee (Colorado). Bride Ruth Richter was Texan.
