John Powell Jr was born about 1667 and died about 1711 in Essex County, VA, formerly Old Rappahannock County. He married Margaret Coghill in 1694.
A John Powell did marry a Margaret Coghill (Cogwell), the elder daughter of James Coghill (Cogwell) and sister of Mary Coghill, in Rappahanock before 3 Sep 1690. See attached image. (Which John Powell?)

Rappahannock County Court 3d of September 1690
- Whereas JAMES COGWELL by his last Will & Testament did give & bequeath unto his two Daughters, MARGARETT & MARY, Six hundred acres of land scituate & being in this County, Parish of Cittenburne, & on the North side the Rappa: River, And whereas JOHN POWELL who maryed MARGARETT the Eldest of the sd Daughters made humble suit that a Partition of the sd land might be granted, The Court have ordered that the High Sheriff of the County or his Deputie do forthwith enter upon the sd land and cause the same to be devided by Twelve able men of the Neighbourhood in to two equall parts according to Quantitie & Quality; And that the said Sheriff or his Deputie put the sd JOHN POWELL into quiet & peaceable possession of the one halfe part thereof in right of the said MARGARETT his Wife
