Photo of the SS Anchoria, Glasgow to New York (1887), the ship which brought her father to America. Since Margaret arrived 2 years later, she might have traveled on a different ship. James Marshall, II arrived in the port of New York on April 30, 1888. He spent 2 years building his home in Plains County, Luzerne township and his family came after the house was completed.
Margaret was about 10 years old when her mother emigrated with her children to the United States to join James Marshall, who had come two years earlier.
In 1900, Margaret was working as a clerk at a dry goods store and in 1904, she was a cashier for the Fowler, Dick & Walker department store.
She married Frank B. R. Sahm on October 12, 1904 in Plains township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It was an elaborate ceremony in the Plains Presbyterian Church.
Frank and Margaret celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1954, some three years prior to Frank's death at the age of 81. Margaret lived to be 93.
