Char Co Bk 3 Pg 259 1 Oct 1781 Sullivant to Crenshaw This Indenture this 1st day of October 1781, between Owen Sullivant of Charlotte county and Charles Crenshaw, of Hanover County, for the sum of 200 pounds, specie, (conveys) a certain parcel of land containing 151 acres, bounded by the lines of Dudley Brooke, (formerly Charles Sullivant's), the late Isaac Read Esq., James Hamblet and Twitty's Creek, including the late dwelling house of Owen Sullivant, dec'd. Signed Owin Sullivant Margaret, wife of the said Owin Sullivant, being first privily examined etc.

Charlotte County, VA, Will Book I, 1765-1791 pp. 20-22 Proved: 6 Feb. 1769

"IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I, OWEN SULLIVANT of Charlotte County of sound and perfect mind and memory do make covenant and appoint my last will and testament as follows, to wit: ..."

"I give and devise my beloved wife the third part of the remaind of my land on the west of Twitty's Creek of my land whereon I now live with the plantation & also during her natural life; I give and devise my said wife the third part of all my moveable estate of what kind or quality sound except two mares the one branded on the rear buttock thus O. S. the other a young mare called Fanny to her during her natural during her natural life. ..."

Some of these Hewlett;s may have been a parent to Margaret...don't know if I can find the proof.

Caroline County, VA Order Books abstracted by John Dorman (Early record were burned.) 1742: A deed of feoffment with livery of seizin endorsed thereon for Thomas Ballard to John Hays was proved by Owen Sullivent, Thomas Hewlet and John Williamson, witnesses thereto.

1759: The last will and testament of Ths. Hewlett was presentd in Court by Wm. Hollman and Jacob Burrus, executors therein named, who refused to take upon themselves the gurthen of the executorship and the will was proved by Wm. Turner, Jeremiah Jorden, and Chs. Syllavent. On motion of Martha Hewlett it is ordered she have adm. of the estate with the will annexed and ack. a bond.
