About Mariah Jane Plummer

Mariah (nee possibly Thompson or Thomas) was born in Maryland in 1802. Her father and mother were from the United States. She married John P Plummer sometime before 1828. Known children of Mariah and John are: Salina (1828-?), William (1834-?), John (1837-1913), Martha (1841-?), Margaret (1844-?) and Amelia Keziah (1846-1916) Parker. The family lived in Cambria County Pennsylvania, moved to Harrison County Ohio some time between 1830 and 1834 and then moved to Wapello County Iowa in 1854. The family farmed between Eddyville and Kirkville Iowa. Mariah died at home in 1872 and is buried in Westview Cemetery in Kirkville. A headstone has not been found for Mariah. Her maiden name was listed as Thomas on daughter Amelia's death certificate. She was always referred to by our grandparents and great-grandparents as Mariah Thompson.
