1 February 1592: Instrument of Resignation by Neil Montgomery of Lainshaw, in the hands of David Campbell of Skeldon his superior by which in implement of a Contract Matrimonial entered into between him the said Neil Montgomery and Neil Montgomery his son and apparent heir on the one part and William Mure of Rowallan and Marian Mure his daughter on the other part, he resigns in the hands of the said David Campbell, the 8 and a half merk land of Aird alias Nether Skeldon, with the manor place, orchard, mills, and salmon fishing thereof, lying in Kyle regis, for new infeftment of the same to be granted to the said Neil Montgomery younger and Marian Mure his wife in conjunct fee and liferent, and the heirs procreate between them, whom failling the said Neil Montgomery Elder his heirs and assignees whatsoever. Witnesses - Robert Master of Eglinton, William Mure of Rowallan William Mure his son and apparent heir Robert Mure in Finickhill and Gilbert and William Mures servants to the said William Mure of Rowallan. 1 February 1592: Charter by David Campbell of Skeldon to Neil Montgomery son and apparent heir of Neil Montgomery of Lainshaw and Marian Mure wife of the said Neil Montgomery younger, in conjunct fee and liferent and the heirs procreate between them whom failling the said Neil Montgomery Elder his heirs and assignees whatsoever of the 8 and a half merk land of Nether Skeldon, with the manor place, orchard mill and salmon fishings thereof, lying in Kyle regis, and which pertained of before to the said Neil Montgomery Elder of Lainshaw and were by him in implement of the Contract Matrimonial entered into between him and his said son on the one part, and William Mure of Rowallan and the said Marian Mure his daughter, on the other part, resigned in the hands of the said David Campbell of Skeldon as immediate superior thereof, upon the 1st Feb. then instant, - To be holden of the said David Campbell of Skeldon and his heirs for service of ward and relief and marriage when it shall happen. 1 February 1592: Renunciation by Robert Master of Eglinton second son of Umquhil Hugh Earl of Eglinton procreate between him and Dame Agnes Drummond his Lady, to Neil Montgomery of Lainshaw and Neil Montgomery younger of Lainshaw his son and apparent heir, by which for the sum of 5200 merks money of his Realm, the said Robert Master of Eglingon, resigns, renounces and overgives in the hands of the said Neil Montgomery Elder and Neil Montgomery younger of Lainshaw the 8 merk land of Nether Skeldon and Mill thereof, half merk land of Aird with the manor place and orchard of the same, and 4 merk land of Constableland, lying in Kyle regis as for the principal, and 10 merk land of Lainshaw, 5 merk land of Crevock-Montgomery and 5 merk land of Gallowberries lying in the bailiary of Cunningham in warrandice - and which lands and others were disponed by the said Neil Montgomery Elder of Lainshaw to the said Umquhil Hugh Earl of Eglinton and Dame Agnes Drummond his Lady in liferent, and to the said Robert Master of Eglinton his heirs and assignees in fee, but redeemable upon payment of the above mentioned sum of 5200 merks conform to Contract and three several Letters of Reversion thereanent, dated at Irvin 12th Aug. 1584 - as also acknowledges having received the mails farms kains customs, profits, and duties, of the lands of Nether Skeldon Constableland and others above mentioned of all years and terms bygone, and that the said Neil Montgomeries Elder and Younger have fulfiled the said Contract and Letters of Reversion, in the whole heads articles and clauses thereof, and that the said lands and others are lawfully redeemed. Witnesses William Mure of Rowallan and William Mure younger of Rowallan his son and apparent heir, David Campbell of Skeldon, Andrew Neven of Monkridding John Neven younger of Kirkwood and William Montgomery Notary. 9 February 1592: wife in conjunct fee and liferent, in the 4 merk land of Constableland, lying in Kyle regis - given by Neil Montgomery Elder of Lainshaw, conform to Charter thereof, granted by him to them upon the Contract Matrimonial entered into between him and his said son on the one part and William Mure of Rowallan and the said Marian Mure his daughter on the other part. 18 November 1594: Renunciation David Campbell of Skeldon to Neil Montgomery of Lainshaw and Neil Montgomery younger of Lainshaw his son and apparent heir (See GD25/1/1022) bearing their having made payment to him the said David Campbell of the sum of 1000 merks money of this Realm for redeeming from him the 25 shilling land of Balgreen, Cairniston and Bray, 10 shilling land of Linsayston and 40 penny land of Piperston, lying in the barony of Kingskyle, wadset to him for the said sum by the said Neil Montgomery Elder and Neil Montgomery Younger, with consent of Robert Master of Eglinton and William Mure of Rowallan to whom they were interdicted, and also with consent of Marian Mure wife of the said Neil Montgomery Younger, and that conform to Contract of Wadset dated at Castle of Giffin 1st Feb. 1592, therefore the said David Campbell renounces, resigns, and simpliciter ovor gives in the hands of the said Neil Montgomery Elder and Neil Montgomery Younger the said 25 shilling land of Balgreen Carniston and Bray, 10 shilling land of Lindsayston and 40 penny land of Piperston, with all right and title which he had thereto and declare the same lawfully redeemed - providing that the Renunciation be not hurtful to the 4 merk land of Constableland wadset to the said David Campbell his heirs and assignees by the Contract above mentioned for the sum of 500 merks - And also bearing the said Neil Montgomery Elder and Neil Montgomery Younger having made payment to him the said David Campbell of the sum of 400 merks money aforesaid, for redeeming from him the 10 shilling land called Mill-land, in like manner wadset to him by the Contract above mentioned -therefore renounces resigns and simplicitor overgives, in the hands of the said Neil Montgomerys Elder and Younger, the said 10 shilling land called the Mill-land, with all right title and interest which he had thereto and declares the same lawfully redeemed - and lastly acknowledges having received payment of the whole bygone annualrents of the principal sums respectively paid to him as aforesaid, by the said Neil Montgomerys Elder and Younger. 9 June 1622: Contract of marriage between Hugh Montgomery, younger of Auchinhood with consent of Hugh Montgomery, elder of Auchinhood, his father on the one part and Marion Montgomery, lawful daughter of unquhile Neill Montgomery of Langschaw with consent of Marion Mure, her mother and spouse to unquhile Neill and Neill Montgomery then of Langschaw (Lainshaw) her brother whereby in contemplation of the marriage to be solemnised between Hew Montgomery, younger and Marion Montgomery, Hew Montgomery, elder binds himself to infeft Marion Montgomery, future spouse to his said son in liferent during all the days of her lifetime in the just and equal half of the lands of Auchinhud, the just and equal half of the 16s 8d land of Park and the just and equal half of the 20s 4d land of old extent of Bordland both lying in the parish of Eaglesham and sheriffdom of Renfrew and to infeft Hew Montgomery, younger and the heirs male lawfully to be proceate between him and his future spouse, which failing the said Hew Montgomery, younger his heirs male and assignees whomsoever heritably in the haill lands of Auchinhood, Park and Bordland, reserving always to Hew Montgomery, elder and Janet Peebles, his spouse their liferent of the said half of the said lands which was not provided to the said Marion Montgomery.
