According to the Rowallan Historie, Sir William Mure of Rowallan married "Jonet Maxwell, daughter of the Laird of Newark, whose mother was a daughter of the Laird of Craigends." Rowallane Historie, p. 85

Death

A date of death has not been identified for Janet Maxwell but she must have died before 15 May 1605, the date upon which her widowed husband was contracted to marry Elizabeth Magill. Register of the Great Seal of Scotland, A.D. 1609-1620, charter number 1456 on p. 529
