About Markus (Meir) Zwillinger
Meir Zwillinger was b. in Holesov, 17 Jul 1799, the youngest son of Abraham and Freydl (Zwillinger) Zwillinger.
It is a distinct possibility, although as yet unproven, that he was not their actual son, but rather, their grandson – identical with Markus [Meir] Tauber, b. Holesov, 8 Aug 1797, son of Michael Hersch Tauber and Channa (Zwillinger) Tauber.
The theory: in 1806, following the deaths of their two sons, Markus and Isack – and perhaps with their own mother Channa falling ill – the two eldest children were brought into the household of Channa’s parents and were raised as their own. Retrospectively, the birth of Markus was entered (with an incorrect date) into the Holesov record book. This is supported by a clear indication that it was inserted into the 1799 page at some subsequent point.
From the 1820s until the end of his death, he is consistently seen as "Markus Zwillinger". He died in Holesov before 1863. [He is not listed in the Holesov Jewish census of 1863]. He was familianten #181 in Holesov.
