A Patriot of the American Revolution for MARYLAND with the rank of PRIVATE. DAR Ancestor # A043274
Marshall Galloway served in the American Colonial Army from 1777 to 1783.
He enlisted in the Continental Army, 3rd Maryland Militia. National Archives records show his unit participated in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth, Cowpens, Guliford and numerous other skirmishes. He was discharged at Annapolis, Md. (His record of service is on file with the DAR & SAR).
His pension application (#S38718) for his service during the revolutionary war was filed in Sullivan Co., Tn. on 11 Nov 1825 and approved and a certificate issued 23 Mar 1826 by the United States.

Note: There is a discrepancy regarding Marshall Galloway's place of birth. The DAR records show that he was born in Ireland. FamilySearch has him born in Maryland.
Also, there is no middle name mentioned on the DAR records; whereas Family Search has a middle name of Benjamin. Historically, it was rare to see a middle name during that time period.
