The township of Rennebu is in a narrow river valley about 25 miles long. Most farms are on land too steep for tractors and are about 10 to 20 acres in size. Martha was born on small farm called Aaskjelland, which no longer exists. She married Lars and moved to his nearby farm called Hosethaug. Hosethaug borders the intersection of the Orkla and Hella rivers. Here Martha raised her family and here she died. Martha is buried in the Rennebu Cemetery. No stone marks her grave. Children: Knute Larson- came to USA in 1884 b. Oct 15, 1859 Johanna Larsen- came to USA in 1893 b. Feb 21, 1866 Torger Hoseth Larsen- came to USA in 1892 b. August 4, 1869 Marit Larsen- Came to USA in May, 1903 b. Jan 1, 1872 Eli Larsen- Remained in Norway b. April 28, 1874 Ole Larsen- Remained in Norway b. October 25, 1876 Randi Larsen- Remained in Norway b. June 4, 1879

Martha's brother Knute Aas was the first of the family to come to the USA. He arrived in 1882 and bought a farm in Barron County, WI. In 1884 he sent for his family. His nephew, Knute Larsen accompanied them across the Atlantic.
