About Marta Kroner
Sally Kroner had been a widower since 14 August 1939 when his wife, Rahel, née Caminer, died in Schneidemühl. He had been held in detention in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp for some time following the November pogrom. He and his daughter Martha were subsequently arrested at their house in Schneidemühl, Thomasiusstr.19 during the Aktion of 21 February 1940. They were then held as prisoners in the Bürgergarten, and within a few days, Sally was sent to the old age home in Berlin, Elsasserstr.54. He was deported as prisoner No. 2638, before his daughter, on 29 July 1942, with the 32nd transport I/33 to the Theresienstadt ghetto. After surviving the deprivations around him for two months, the 76-year old became prisoner No. 1091 and was deported once again with convoy Br to Treblinka on 29 September 1942 where the aged, the weak and the infirm were murdered upon arrival. Martha was initially permitted to stay with relatives (Liebert) in Berlin, Rombergstr.20, until early August 1940, when she too was taken to Elsasserstr.54, her last known address. On 29 November 1942, she was deported with the 23rd transport to Auschwitz. Sally’s son, Hans, was able to immigrate to Sweden; his daughter, Jenny, made Aliyah to Palestine long before the deportations began.
