About Martha Jones
Martha Macon Jones was buried at the Macon burial ground, Macon Island, Virginia. In 1906 her remains were removed to the chancel at Bruton Parish church, Williamsburg to preserve ithe stone. Martha and Orlando Jones were Martha Washington's maternal grandparents.
Here lyes in hopes of a Blessed Resurrection ye Body of Mrs Martha Jones wife of Mr Orlando Jones She was the Daughter of MR Gideon Macon & Martha . . . Of new Kent . .
The lower part of the stone is illegible. It was brought from New Kent and put in the church to preserve it. Martha and Orlando Jones were Martha Washington's maternal grandparents.

I recall reading when I first started my family research that when his daughter Martha died that Gideon had loved her so much that he had her buried on the property so that he could look out at the grave last thing at night before retiring and first thing in the morning on arising.
I have not since been able to find this reference.
She was born about 1683, and would have died before the 2nd daughter named Martha was born in 1687.
