Martha Washington Shelby

Martha is my ggg grandmother. My dad did a lot of genealogical work and passed it on to me before he passed away. I have continued on with it. I just wanted to share information we have found. You may already know all this information so if you do, you can disregard. If you have information that differs, I would be interested in knowing.

From what we have found, Martha married Moses A. Shelby about 1811 in North Carolina. Moses served in the War of 1812. They had several children including my gg grandfather, George Washington "Moses" Shelby in 1825. George was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. They moved to Tennessee at some point after 1825. According to the US Census, they were living in Hardin County, Tennessee in 1830. Moses died in 1838. Sometime between 1839 and 1850, Martha married Samuel Wells in Hardin County, Tennessee. Samuel Wells died before June 1, 1850. Martha then married William Harris Shelby, son of Thomas Shelby and Hannah Polk on October 18, 1854 in Hardin County, Tennessee. Martha died about 1863 in Hardin County, Tennessee.
