COL. JOHN TURBERVILLE, (3—2), of "Hickory Hill," Westmoreland Co., Va., b. about 1735; educated at William and Mary College; member of the Committee of Co.'s, 1775 ; m. Martha Corbin. dau. of Hon. John and Letitia (Lee) Corbin, of "Port Tobago," Caroline Co., Va., and had among others the following issue. (See Corbin and Lee lineage.)

Wife of Maj. John Turberville, daughter of Hon. John Corbin and Lettice (Lee) Corbin, Martha was born at Portabago and her death at Hickory Hill was reported in the Virginia Herald and Fredericksburg Advertiser, Jan 19, 1792 issue. Her husband's will requests burial in the garden next to his wife a stipulation necessary as he had married, after Martha's death, Anne Ballentine and he wanted to be buried next to the mother of his ten children rather than with his second wife.
