About Martin Brandt
In Brandt Family Bible: "and in the year 1750 7 January a son name of Martin Brandt"
Martin Brandt emigrated from Hummelstown, Dauphin Co., Penn., to Cumberland County, Penn., in 1773, built a stone house in 1776, a barn in 1777, and a large mansion in 1779. The two houses are in good condition to-day, and are now owned by Henry Heisey. He was a large land-holder, owning about 1,000 acres of land. He had six children: Catherine, Martin, Betzy, Adam, David and Henrietta. Martin Brandt, Sr., departed this life March 26, 1835, aged eighty-five years, five months and fifteen days. His children "also erected a memorial" for him at Mt. Zion Cemetery. #37141262 Inscription:
