Martin H. Vasfaret

Martin H. Vasfaret, 87, died Wednesday, February 13 in the local hospital. He had been a resident of the Griggs County Nursiing Home the past three months.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 15 in Trinity Lutheran Church.

Martin H. Vasfaret was born August 6, 1897 to the late Harold and Kari (Lein) Vasfaret in Sverdrup Township, Griggs County, where he grew up and attended rural school. He was married to Bernice Larson in Fargo, November 23, 1923. They farmed in the Cooperstown community until he retired and moved to Cooperstown. He spent a year and a half in the Good Samaritan Center at Aneta before coming to the nursing home here. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Pythias.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Ione) Mauch, Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Mavis Nelson, Cooperstown; and Mrs. Robert (Blanche) Moore, Hope; three sons, Harold, Cooperstown, Milo, Binford; and Vernon, Hammond, Wisconsin; two sisters, Sophia Loge, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Marie Bjugstad, Hastings, Nebraska, 28 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A sister, seven brothers and a grandson preceded him in death.
