About Mary Polly Adkins

GEDCOM Note

Mary Polly Monroe was the daughter of Robert and Rosanna Janie Puckett Monroe. She was probably born before 1785, in either Grainger County, Tennessee, where her parents had been living, or perhaps in Virginia where they came from. The Virginia birth possibility is because her younger brother, John, was born in 1786 in Virginia -- so maybe Mary was also born while her parents were for a time in Virginia.

Mary Polly Monroe married Richard Adkins Sr. in Grainger County, Tennessee, on November 15, 1805. Earlier that year Richard's brother, Louis Atkins Sr., had married Polly's sister, Elizabeth.

Mary and Richard had two sons, Richard and William, and a daughter they named Rosanna.

The family later moved to Coal Creek, Anderson County, Tennessee. In Anderson County Rosanna was married in 1830 and the son Richard married Margaret Adkins (believed to be his cousin) in 1835.

Mary Polly Monroe died by 1819.
