MARY A. SMITH
Mrs. Mary A. Smith, 90, of Brothersvalley Township died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose Lybarger of Mentor, Ohio, with whom she had made her home since last September. She had been ill for about two weeks. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of Simon and Rose Ann (Rauch) Hauger of Brothersvalley Township. She was the widow of G. Washington Smith who died in 1904. After his death Mrs. Smith remained on their farm where she brought up a large family. A few years ago she sold her farm to her son, Claud Smith. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Robert B. Walker, Mrs. Nellie Krause, Guy, Marling, and Claud Smith, Berlin, R. D. 3; Harry Smith, Berlin; Mrs. Rose Lybarger and Mrs. John Lichty of Waterloo, Iowa; also thirty grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Rhoads and Mrs. Lillie Gumbert, both of Brothersvalley Township. She was a member of the Pine Hill Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Second Society of Farm Women of Somerset County. Her body was brought to Berlin, Thursday night and placed in Johnson & Son's
Funeral Home, where services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Howard W. Bock of the Garrett charge of the Lutheran Church officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Berlin.
