About Silas Milton Hauger
Silas M. Hauger, a highly respected retired farmer of Brothersvalley, died in the Windber Hospital Wednesday, May 29th, after having just reached his 86th birthday. He was a patient in the hospital for several weeks. A son of Simon and Rose Ann Hauger, he was born in Brothersvalley Township, May 29, 1860, and was a resident of Somerset County during his entire life. His wife, Rebecca Cover Hauger, preceded him in death by one year. He is survived by these children: Luella, wife of Ralph Landis; Arlo, of Northville, Mich.; Carson, San Francisco, and Jay, who lives on the home farm and with whom his father made his home after the death of his wife. He also leaves three sisters - Mrs. Mary Smith, Mrs.Elmer Rhoads and Mrs.Wilson Gumbert, all of Berlin R.D. Mr. Hauger was a faithful member of the Berlin Reformed Church and was one of
the outstanding citizens of this community. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Johnson & Son's funeral home, with Rev. Herman C. Snyder and Rev. Dr. Stephen in charge. Interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
