Obituary Mrs M A Brooks Posted 30 Dec 2013 by Enterprise1950 Mary Ann (Mollie) Williams, 20 March 1852 – 11 January 1927 MRS M.A. BROOKS DIED LAST TUESDAY Mrs M.A. Brooks, a pioneer settler of the Prairie Valley community died at her home Tuesday morning about 2 o’clock and was buried in the afternoon about five o’clock. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John W. Howett, of Alvarado, at the home of the deceased. Mrs. Brooks joined the Baptist Church in 1882 and has been a devoted member ever since. She had been a widow since 1894, having to undergo many hardships, but from what [many knew] of her, she was a very industrious woman, having paid for her home after her husband died. She was the mother of eleven children, five of whom preceded her in death. The others were all present when their mother died. They are: Mrs. Ina Fitzgerald, of Kansas City; Mr. Ed Brooks, of Centreville, Miss.; Mrs. Florence Jones, of Corpus Christi; Mr. J.W. Brooks, who lives on the home place; Mrs. Etta Nolan and Mrs. Zula Woodard, both of Alvarado. Mrs. Brooks was laid to rest in the Duke cemetery Tuesday afternoon.
The Express joins the many friends in extending condolence to the bereaved family.
